Welcome to My Homepage!
You might wonder what you can find on my home page - and maybe you are even thinking, "What am I doing here?". Well, to be honest there is not much to find yet. It's just the start of "yet another homepage". Sooner or later I will put up some stuff online that I find interesting to share and some information about myself. I still have to decide which information about myself I want to make available to the general public. Most people do not want that everyone knows everything about them, right?
So why did I start creating a home page in the first place? Well, first of all there are few things I want to share and secondly I wanted to try to play around. The idea behind this page was that I wanted to create a nice design, but at the same time correct and rather simple HTML. I also wanted to achieve a nice layout without using tables. This is the result! I am aware that the code is a bit of a <div> soup, which is not a "Good Thing"™, but I guess one has to make compromises. To make editing the page easy, I decided to base it on a Wiki - in my case ZWiki.
Btw. I tried to make this page as compatible with as many browsers as possible. It is rendered correctly by Firefox, Konquerer and Opera. Those were the browsers I was able to test the page with. Of course, Internet Explorer has troubles rendering this page, due to it's poor support of CSS and the PNG graphics format. But since the layout of the page is done using CSS one can even view it using a text browser. There's one thing that I would like to improve though: as suggested by various user interface guidelines the menu on this page is on the right side. Thus, if it is rendered by a text only browser it appears after the text. I would prefer to control the layout by the style sheet in such a way, that the menu is rendered on the right side, but it's code is before the rest of the content. So far I have not managed to do this without creating annoying side effects.
